INTRODUCING CHARLES R. ECKER MUSIC PUBLISHING, AND CHARLIE'S BACKGROUND IN THIS MEDIUM
This native of Upstate New York has been interested in music ever since first banging on a piano at the age of ten, foresaking his piano teacher to figure out how to play songs on his own, by ear, by performers ranging from Chuck Berry to the Rolling Stones. He was a member of a garage band while in college but a right hand broken in two places never healing correctly took Charlie off the stage for quite some time. Then life took him in a different direction during the Vietnam War assigned to Seoul, Korea in the military information branch.
Charlie did not begin a serious quest to write songs until he was 37, and launched, independently of his own songwriting efforts that have 34 songs fully-produced songs under the banner of the C.R. Ecker Band and a musical production company called "Corporate Harmony." This creative agency and its principals, labeled "The Boardroom Beatles" by the Santa Monica Outlook with articles appearing in leading media such as the Los Angeles Times and a CBS-News, produced 'work-for-hire' full-scale songs for companies such as Marriott Hotels, General Foods, Nordhaus, and Cliff Graphics International; trade associations including the Specialty Council, Meeting Planners International, and the Califoria Chiropracters Association; the community of Playa del Rey, CA; and his high school alma mater, Kimball Union Academy, Meriden, N.H..
During his career in radio and TV broadcasting and public relations, Charlie served as a PR advisor for five years with the Los Angeles Songwriters Showcase, receiving its coveted Service Excellence Award for his effort.
But of all the songs he has written over his lifetime, the one he wants to be most remembered for is the first he ever began and is still composing after all these years -- "Freedom's Grand," a musical tribute to duty, honor and country as demonstrated by his four year's of service in the U.S. Air Force and ten years as a Division Officer and two-term Flotilla Commander in the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He envisons the final song as an expanded spoken word and musical tribute to America, like no other song ever written and recorded.
Charlie formed Charles R. Ecker Music Publishing in 2011 to claim, and in some cases, re-claim, the rights to his music, and hopes you will see that what he has done as a songwriter represents a quite marketable diverse collection to be presented to music lovers of all ages.
His first collection of music under the title -- "Bushwacked (Bewildered, Beat-up Bad and Broke)" was released August 1, 2011 on iTunes, CD Baby, e-music and Amazon, among others. The launch was observed with the lighting of an electronic billboard on Times Square, near the site of his biggest public relations "spash," the "first guest" campaign at the New York Marriott Marquis, reference on the first page of this website.
